Embroidered Lehenga

A lehenga is a must buy for any Indian woman. Be it a wedding or a family ceremony, it is one outfit that is a big hit with young and old alike. With modern trends and designs emerging, the embroidered lehenga has become a huge success. Traditionally India has been a land that exhibits lavish work on any fabric. Be it gold or pearl, Indians are known to utilize them even on their clothes and what better dress to use this on, but an embroidered lehenga!

An embroidered lehenga is basically heavy with a richly decorated skirt and a relatively simpler choli. The duppatta is again heavily adorned with stones or other work like zardosi or gota work. An embroidered lehenga makes use of traditional fabrics like brocade or raw silks since these are more apt to hold on the embroidery. Lighter party lehengas too have embroidered patterns but not all over the outfit as in the traditional ones.

The main feature of a lehenga with embroidery is the detailing done. Intricate patterns and superb cuts are the high points of these fancy outfits. Beads, crystals and sequins are used generously too. However, there are cases where laces and velvet has been used suggesting a fusion look. Slim fit and mermaid cuts are in vogue in the field of an embroidered lehenga. They can be modified to look different by wearing different styles of the choli. Mughal style cholis or one with transparent short sleeves are ruling the fashion racks.
